Professional Qualifications
As a seasoned law enforcement professional with a distinguished 25-year career, I held various assignments across the United States and abroad. Most notably, I led the ATF Las Vegas Field Office during the largest mass shooting event in US History and its subsequent investigation. On October 1, 2017, a lone gunman perpetrated a horrifying attack on a musical festival crowd from the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino's 32nd floor. During this tragic incident, 413 people suffered gunshot wounds, and 58 innocent lives were lost, making it the largest mass casualty shooting in US history.
During my tenure in Las Vegas, I emphasized the use of cutting-edge law enforcement techniques, including ShotSpotter, National Instant Ballistic Identification Network (NIBIN), Etrace, Facial Recognition, and License Plate Reader technology.
In addition to my domestic contributions, I served as the Program Manager for ATF International in Western Canada from June 2015 to October 2017. I fostered strong relationships with various Canadian law enforcement agencies during this time. I oversaw the joint project Northern Lights, which focused on detecting firearms trafficking by examining crime gun traces in Alberta and British Columbia.
My dedication to law enforcement excellence was evident throughout my tenure as a Senior Special Agent from March 2000 to June 2015. Notable accomplishments during this period include:
Successfully concluding a 15-month "storefront" investigation.
Participating as a tactical medic in high-risk operations.
Overseeing a monitored investigation led to the recovery of stolen explosives and charges against the responsible individual.
Education-wise, I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in History/Political Science from Rocky Mountain College in December 1996, receiving the honor of Summa Cum Laude.
My commitment to public service began even earlier. I served in the United States Navy as an Aviation Electronics Technician (AT) from January 1989 to January 1993, earning various accolades for my contributions during Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. I also served as a Lieutenant (Infantry) in the Montana Army National Guard from January 1993 to April 1997. I worked as a Patrol Agent for the US Border Patrol in Nogales, Arizona, from 1997 to 2000.
I have shared my expertise throughout my career by training multiple public and private entities on various topics, including NIBIN, Crime Gun Intelligence, Privately Made Firearms (PMF), and ATF Industry subjects.
Recognitions for my contributions include the ATF Distinguished Service Medal, Hostile Action Award, LVMPD Unit Exemplary Awards, and USAO Law Enforcement Awards.
My diverse and extensive law enforcement experiences and dedication to public safety and justice have shaped me into a highly effective leader and investigator.
